Basketball: Ball-Handling Drills and Training

Why Work With a Basketball Ball-Handling Trainer?

Ball-handling training goes far beyond just dribbling a ball up and down the court, it’s about building total control, coordination and confidence with the ball. Our training includes a combination of dribbling technique, body control, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to use both hands effectively (ambidexterity). These skills are crucial for guards, wings, and even post players who want to stay competitive in today’s fast-paced game.

Consistent access to high-quality local coaching, like the ball-handling training we offer at RDE Sports, ensures athletes can develop at their own pace, with trusted guidance every step of the way.

How Basketball Ball-Handling Sessions Work at RDE Sports

Each basketball ball-handling session begins with check-in and a dynamic warm-up focused on mobility, injury prevention, and activating the muscles used during training. From there, athletes transition to the court for ball handling drills tailored to their age, skill level, and goals. Whether it’s working on dribbling under pressure, changing direction, or strengthening their weak hand, each drill is purposeful and progressively challenging.

Our coaches utilize cones, resistance tools, reaction lights, weighted balls, and other advanced equipment to help athletes improve hand speed, control, and coordination. These tools keep sessions fresh and exciting while building real in-game skills. And because all of our training takes place in a performance facility, athletes also benefit from access to turf areas, speed ladders, and other resources not typically available with private trainers.
